Rs 2,580 crore investment to rise on a 62-acre site at JNPA, generating 750 jobs

Dubai, United Arab Emirates — RSA Global, the Dubai-headquartered integrated logistics company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to develop India’s largest empty container yard within the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) area at Uran, Raigad district. Signed through RSA Logistics and Transportation Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the MoU carries a proposed investment of ₹2,580 crore and is expected to generate approximately 750 direct and indirect jobs.

The proposed yard will be developed on a 62-acre (25-hectare), fully paved, technology-led facility purpose-built to take the friction, cost, and delay out of empty container handling at one of the country's most important trade gateways.

A Vote of Confidence in Maharashtra

The investment deepens RSA Global's commitment to India and to Maharashtra's position as the country's logistics and trade hub. The project supports the State's agenda of attracting world-class infrastructure capital, creating skilled employment, and strengthening export competitiveness through modern, sustainable logistics.

Built within the JNPA Ecosystem

Developed inside the JNPA estate at Uran under a long-term lease, the facility is designed in alignment with the Port Authority's vision for decongestion, land optimization, and ever-higher throughput. By pulling empty container storage, maintenance, and repositioning into a single, organized, automated hub close to the port, the yard is built to accelerate empty container evacuation, ease terminal and road congestion, and support faster vessel feeding.

Real Value for Shipping Lines and Transporters

For RSA Global’s customers, the yard replaces today's fragmented, manual handling with a single integrated operation:

  • Faster turnaround through FIFO-driven automation, ASRS-based storage and EOT cranes, with real-time visibility via a Yard Management System and OCR-enabled gates
  • Lower costs — reduced detention, fewer damage and insurance claims, and improved vessel cut-off performance
  • Scalable capacity of 50,000+ TEUs per month, with full-service handling of reefer containers, ISO tanks, dry, collapsible, and out-of-gauge equipment
  • A complete service scope — empty storage, maintenance & repair, pre-trip inspection, SOLAS-compliant weighment, surveys, fabrication, and CFS transfers
  • A better driver experience — faster gate-in/gate-out, on-site weighbridge, dedicated parking, and clean facilities, enabling more daily trips

Sustainable by Design

The facility is engineered for 24×7 operation with solar power integration, dedicated power feeders, STP & ETP water recycling, and 2,500+ trees for green cover — lowering emissions and idling while raising productivity across the ecosystem.

Leadership Perspectives

"India's trade ambitions are written in its ports, and empty container handling has long been the unglamorous bottleneck holding them back. We're investing to fix exactly that bringing automation, transparency and world-class infrastructure to the JNPA ecosystem, in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra. This is RSA Global doing what we do best: solving the hard problems in the supply chain." — Ajay I. Shah, Chairman & Co-Founder, RSA Global

“The Nhava Sheva ecosystem has long needed a reliable, organized, and technology-driven empty container solution. This facility directly addresses that gap. With ASRS automation, real-time YMS visibility, and a 62-acre fully paved and secured yard, we will deliver faster turnarounds, lower costs, and a dramatically better experience for every stakeholder in the supply chain.”

Abhishek Shah, Group CEO & Co-Founder, RSA Global

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the investment, stating it would boost modern logistics infrastructure and export capacity while accelerating high-skill job creation in the state.
